MBA spokesman Paul Bidwell says predictions of a building boom after the floods were not accurate. "There is nowhere near the level of work certain people have mooted as coming as a result of the floods and the cyclone recovery," he said. "There is not the level of work the media particularly indicated would come through the system." The Master Plumbers Association (MPA) also says its industry is also in hot water. MPA spokesman Adrian Hart says a lot of members are struggling to find work. "In the plumbing industry, we are finding a huge drop-off in new construction work and that is flowing through to the trade contractors," he said. "That's causing in a significant problem in our sector of the industry.
