The NSW government says it has received 13 expressions of interest from companies keen to build Sydney's $4.8 billion CBD Metro project. NSW Transport Minister David Campbell said the Australian and international engineering firms had registered their interest in the contract for the design and construction of the light rail system's twin tunnels, to run between Central station and Rozelle. "The CBD Metro will be the spine of a future metro system that will span out into greater Sydney, first to the west and then into other parts of our city, as funding becomes available," he said in a statement on Wednesday. "This is another major step forward for the CBD Metro project. "It is encouraging to see such a strong level of interest in building the CBD Metro from both Australia and overseas." Expression of Interest (EOI) documentation has been issued to Brookfield Multiplex Constructions Pty Ltd, SNC Lavalin Australia Pty Ltd, Bouygues Travaux Publics SA, Acciona Infraestructuras SA, Veolia Transport SA, Baulderstone Pty Ltd, Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd, McConnell Dowell Corporation/ Abigroup /Obayashi Corporation, John Holland Pty Ltd / Thiess Pty Ltd, Laing O'Rourke Australia Construction Pty Ltd, Taisei Corporation, Bovis Lend Lease and China Overseas Engineering Group Co.
